I had just successfully(?) added a network printer. backtrace_rating: 4 Package: control-center-3.4.1-1.fc17 OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) After adding a network printer, gnome-control-center crashed. backtrace_rating: 4 Package: control-center-3.4.1-1.fc17 OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) 1. Opened Printers panel in control-center 2. Unlocked 3. Opened Add a New Printer dialog 4. Selected Network 5. Desired printer discovered; selected and chose Add 6. Received notice that printer was added 7. control-center crashed immediately backtrace_rating: 4 Package: control-center-3.4.1-1.fc17 OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) Added A network printer backtrace_rating: 4 Package: control-center-3.4.2-1.fc17 OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) adding a network printer. selected 'network' and chose the LAN printer. when clicking "next" and SElinux alarm popped up. Reading the details, it looks like cups-driverd attempted to read the /opt folder. The following is supposed to allow this operation in the future: # semanage fcontext -a -t cupsd_exec_t /op backtrace_rating: 4 Package: control-center-3.4.2-1.fc17 OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) I was installing a printer (HP Photosmart Plus B209a). I had gone into the firewall settings and turned on IPP, mdns, and Samba client. Came back into the printer add. It saw the printer, and I selected it. A few seconds later the printer box just went away. backtrace_rating: 4 Package: control-center-3.4.2-1.fc17 OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) I attempted to add a Xerox Phaser 8860 printer to Fedora17 using its jetdirect port (tcp 9100). Oddly enough, it appeared to detect the printer, but asked me to "Install the following driver" without saying what the driver actually was. I clicked on 'Ok', and according to the logs, it installed foomatic and foomatic-db, then died less than a minute later. Incidentally, I'm running Fedora17 inside a VirtualBox (4.1.20) on a MacOSX 10.6.8 machine. backtrace_rating: 4 Package: control-center-3.4.2-1.fc17 Architecture: i686 OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) Added a printer Automatic installation completed and the control-center exited. When I opened a new control-center, this error appeared. backtrace_rating: 4 Package: control-center-3.6.3-1.fc18 OS Release: Fedora release 18 (Spherical Cow) This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
