Description darton 2011-10-24 11:28:29 UTC
Description of problem:

/etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml provided by libxfce4ui contains shorcuts to xfce4-screenshooter, which is not installed by default.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

libxfce4ui-4.8.0-4.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:

Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the default system with XFCE desktop environment.
2. Go to Preferences->Keyboard->Application Shortcuts.
3. Assure that xfce4-screenshooter is bound to <Print>.
4. Press PrintScreen key.

Actual results:

Nothing happens.

Expected results:

Either the key binding is not provided in reproduction step 3 above, or xfce4-screenshooter (which should have been installed with the desktop environment) is launched and takes the screenshot.

Additional info:

maybe the bug should be filed against "XFCE default package selection", but I don't know the component name.

Comment 1 Christoph Wickert 2011-10-24 11:54:44 UTC
I don't think this is a bug because it does absolutely no harm if xfce4-screenshooter is not installed but if it *is*, it will work out of the box.

That would be comps. I am not sure if we should add it there, IMHO Xfce goodies should not be 'default', but I wouldn't object either.

Kevin, what do you think?

Comment 2 Christoph Wickert 2011-10-24 12:02:14 UTC
Strictly speaking we have the same problem with xfwm4, too: It's referenced in xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml but we cannot be sure it's installed. It's default in comps though, but we cannot be sure it's always pulled and we cannot add a dependency to the libxfce4ui package because we'd add a dependency loop.

Comment 3 darton 2011-10-24 12:39:10 UTC
I'd suggest changing xfce4-screenshooter to type="default".

Comment 4 Kevin Fenzi 2011-10-24 17:48:15 UTC
We can add it to comps, I don't mind that... but again we can't be sure it's installed if someone installs from non groups or the like.

Comment 5 Christoph Wickert 2011-12-09 22:50:43 UTC
xfce4-screenshooter is part of the Xfce goodies, so IHMO it should not be in comps by default. I don't think we need to change anything here as this "bug" does not cause any problems.
