Description Julian 2011-10-28 08:30:12 UTC
Description of problem:

In f16 it takes ~15s from connecting/turning on a display on HDMI connector until a something is displayed (the monitors own startup time not included).

Im using a G45 intel chipset together with a BenQ VW2420H display.

$lspci | grep "VGA"
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-drv-intel.x86_64 2.16.0-2.fc16
kernel.x86_64 3.1.0-1.fc16

How reproducible:
plug in or turn on display and count... ;)

Under f15 it takes a 3-4s from turnig on to getting a picture (again display startup not included) which was acceptable, but 15s is rather much.

Do you still experience this with current kernels from F16 updates?

Comment 3 Julian 2012-05-24 16:31:57 UTC
Hey,

I recently migrated to F17 (w/ updates-testing enabled) and the problem exists there. Do the kernels differ enough to necessitate me setting up an F16 in parallel to debug this further?

Thanks for looking into this!

Comment 4 Julian 2012-05-28 09:36:40 UTC
With the latest kernel update (3.3.6-3.fc17.x86_64) on my f17 box the delay is down to 2-3 seconds. Thanks for fixing this!

Comment 5 Julian 2012-06-12 17:17:17 UTC
With the latest kernel, the problem is back, sadly. I am experiencing some 15-20s again with kernel-3.4.0-1.fc17.x86_64.

Comment 6 Julian 2012-07-24 06:52:47 UTC
The current state with kernel 3.4.6-2.fc17.x86_64 is that the delay is down to 2-3s which is quite nice. Actually this it has been that way for the last few kernel versions. I consider this fixed. (again... ;) )

According to your last post, this issue is solved so I am closing this bug now.

Thank you for your effort.
