Description of problem:

vnstatd does not start, error in Log-File is:

Oct 31 07:59:28 han vnstatd[12465]: vnStat daemon 1.11 started.
Oct 31 07:59:28 han vnstatd[12465]: Error: pidfile failed, exiting.

This is because of /etc/tmpfiles.d/vnstatd.conf is missing for systemd in F16.

You should add this file to the rpm:

# cat /etc/tmpfiles.d/vnstatd.conf   
D /var/run/vnstatd 0755 vnstat vnstat -


Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

vnstat-1.11-2.fc16.i686

How reproducible:

Every start of vnstatd

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install and configure vnstatd
2. Try to start vnstatd with systemctl start vnstat.service
  
Actual results:

vnstatd does not start

Expected results:

vnstatd to start

Thanks for the bug report. In bug #711995 the same problem is also mentioned. I will provide an update very soon to fix it.

vnstat-1.11-3.fc16 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 16.

Package vnstat-1.11-3.fc16:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 16 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing vnstat-1.11-3.fc16'
as soon as you are able to.

vnstat-1.11-6.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository.  If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
