This issue occurs because -o (output) was not passed when signing the request file. certutil -C -d . -c "testca" -a -i rootca.req -v 12 -m 0 It would be nice if it gives warning that -o options is not specified rather than crashing. Yes and according to certutil -H .... -C Create a new binary certificate from a BINARY cert request ... -o output-cert Output binary cert to this file (default is stdout) .... it should have written the cert to standard output. I logged the bug upstream https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=699290 and will submit a patch. This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Sign the Request using the old CA created in Step-1 certutil -C -d . -c "testca" -a -i rootca.req -v 12 -m 0 Enter Password or Pin for "NSS Certificate DB": Segmentation fault (core dumped)
