Description Bruce vaNorman 2011-11-03 10:09:30 UTC
Description of problem:
probably related to #682555
The IBM T40 SO-DIMM 2 @ 256mB (has 512mB installed)
It would cost ~$100 to replace the memory - if the new PC2100 memory was recognized.
last message before hang is "trying to unpack rootfs image as initramfs..."

If this is a feature of FC15, then why did "preupgrade" even start?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
FC15 (preupgrade from FC14), grub.conf identifies the kernel as "Upgrade to Fedora 15 (Lovelock)" (i686)

How reproducible:
consistent, every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. run "preupgrade" on a working FC14 system on an IBM T40 with 512mB of SO-DIMM
2. boot FC15
3.

Actual results:
FC15 update kernel (or rootfs) hangs during boot

Expected results:
FC15 upgrade kernel boot should complete or preupgrade should not have installed it.
