Maybe I don't know how to do this but... in any case, its not intuitive even if you CAN do it (someone tell me how if so).

See attached image. I go to the tree's context menu and try to add a graph.  but the measurement context menu is empty - there is no option to add it.

1) why is this context menu empty? Shouldn't there be something here other than, literally, "Empty Menu" ?

2) how do I add the metric graph to the list of summary graphs on the right side? Its not intuitive if its even possible

That's exactly how you should be doing it but I don't understand why you have an empty context menu here. Using JON 3.0.0.CR1, if I right click on my platform and have the Monitor tab open you should have two options for each measurement:
i)Add chart to dashboard (Default)
ii)Add Graph to Monitor View
 
Maybe someone nicked something here? Does that still happen for you?
