Description cornel panceac 2011-11-05 18:58:51 UTC
Description of problem:
whenever i insert my wireless card, the thinkpad freezes.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.1.0-7

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.insert the card
2.
3.

Actual results:
the system freezes in about one minute after it connects to the wireless network

Expected results:

Additional info:
i've seen this problem first in fuduntu, as soon as it introduces the new 3.x kernel

strange enough, if i'm near an unknown network and don't connect to it (because i don't know passwords etc) the system is not freezing. it may have something to do with the encryption of the wireless network .....

I belie this F-16 variant of bug 731672 . It should be fixed currently in 3.1.3 by commit:

commit 7aa8983f0b2c57c25de227909072fe4f8edaa9ad
Author: Gertjan van Wingerde <gwingerde>
Date: Sat Nov 12 19:10:44 2011 +0100

rt2x00: Fix sleep-while-atomic bug in powersaving code.

I'm closing this bug, reopen if issue still occurs.

Comment 2 cornel panceac 2011-12-12 11:27:42 UTC
Indeed, i no longer see it in 3.1.4
Thank you very much
