Description collura 2011-11-11 09:18:52 UTC
Description of problem:

the oxygen cursor seems to be broken again after the recent fix in

   f15-f16 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=707828#c1
   and formerly in
   f13-f14 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=612835
     (differnt spin but similar result)

reporting against gsettings-desktop-schemas as was the last suggested source of breakage (though looking not to be the case now? see below that version number remained same between most recent working and broken instance)

the functioning version from f16-rc2

  gsettings-desktop-schemas-3.2.0-1.fc16 (64bit) [rc2]

has the same number as the apparently re-broken one from release f16

  gsettings-desktop-schemas-3.2.0-1.fc16 (64bit) [release]

which either means its not the actual fix/problem or just remembered the fix wrong ..or related to another package like

  avant-window-navigator*
    ex: avant-window-navigator-0.4.1-0.4.bzr830.fc16 (64bit)

  awn-extras-applets*
    ex: awn-extras-applets-0.4.2-0.6.bzr1537.fc16 (64bit)

  gnome-shell-extension*
    ex: gnome-shell-extension-dock-3.2.0-1.fc16

which might be interfering (and we just need tighter standards accordingly?).

i dont think added any packages to release install test that werent in the f16-rc2 install test but maybe one of those packages got updated causing the breakage... .

filing this bug as seems to be broken again as of f16 release.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
  gsettings-desktop-schemas-3.2.0-1.fc16 (64bit)
  oxygen-gtk-1.1.4-2.fc16 (64bit)
  oxygen-cursor-themes-4.7.3-6.fc16 (64bit)

How reproducible:
  always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open firefox or a terminal window or nautilus
2. mouseover parts of windows or desktop
3. note displayed cursor is oxygen or regular depending on what over

Actual results:
  oxygen cursor over some windows/parts_of_windows
but regular cursor over others(titlebar and some menu items)/desktop

Expected results:
  oxygen cursor all the time

Additional info:

the recent update to

   oxygen-cursor-themes-4.7.3-6.fc16
     (or another related package update?)

did help but only part of the cases. so now the oxygen-cursor still doesnt show up in the desktop but now does show up for main firefox window though not at firefox title bar (which seems to be reverse of the https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=707828 ) and also similarly shows oxygen cursor in body of terminal window but the xcursor in window titlebar of terminal window

Comment 1 Fedora End Of Life 2013-01-16 17:46:00 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '16'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2013-02-13 22:37:49 UTC
Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
