Patch for nfsExports.py and nfsServer.py none

Description Hans Erickson 2011-11-14 22:04:12 UTC
Created attachment 533639 [details]
Patch for nfsExports.py and nfsServer.py

Description of problem:
When the NFS configuration is changed through the system-config-nfs program, the program attempts to restart the nfs server through an outdated method (i.e. /sbin/service nfs restart). This results in the error message:
Failed to issue method call: Unit nfs-service.service failed to load: No such file or directory. See system logs and 'systemctl status nfs-service.service' for details.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Version : 1.3.51
Release : 2.fc15

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run system-config-nfs as root
2. Change anything in the configuration (e.g. click "Add" to add an NFS share)
3. Click "OK" to change the settings

Actual results:
NFS service is not restarted

Expected results:
NFS service is restarted

Additional info:

Attaching a patch.

Comment 1 Nils Philippsen 2011-11-15 13:41:24 UTC
This isn't due to s-c-nfs using the "outdated" compat /sbin/service script, but that in the course of migrating to a native systemd unit, the "nfs" service was renamed to "nfs-server" and s-c-nfs doesn't know about this change (because I wasn't aware of it until now).

Comment 2 E. Lewis 2011-11-15 16:27:04 UTC
I confirm the existence of this bug.
'nfs.service failed to load: No such file or directory...'
I am running nfs-utils version 1.2.5-1.fc16.
This appears to be a regression from fc-15. NFS ran fine under fc15.
I changed selinux policy from 'enforcing' to 'permissive' as recommended to no avail.
Bug appears similar to 739606 that has been closed.

Again, this is because the name of the service was changed and I wasn't aware of it until now.

Where was this recommended?

I can see no similarity between this bug and bug #739606 other than that both involve NFS.

Comment 4 Fedora End Of Life 2013-02-14 02:07:43 UTC
Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 5 Nils Philippsen 2013-02-14 13:00:19 UTC
Hmm, dropped this one. Still exists.

Comment 6 Nils Philippsen 2013-02-14 13:10:25 UTC
Well, doesn't exist anymore, nfs-utils ships a compat symlink. Still deserves to be updated though.
