I can't reproduce the problem. This gconf key should never be empty since it has a default in its schema set.

Please can you run the following commands as the user you have tried to start monodevelop and attach the output to this bug report?

gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/interface/monospace_font_name

ls -la /etc/gconf/schemas/desktop_gnome_interface.schemas

rpm -q libgnome

rpm -V libgnome

I booted into the live cd and checked; libgnome is not installed. I am installing to a VM right now, will check again after install / updates / etc.

Comment 3 Christian Krause 2011-11-18 19:15:19 UTC
In that case somehow the dependencies were not completely resolved during installation (or the creation of the live cd).

monodevelop requires gnome-sharp
gnome-sharp requires libgnome

Please can you check with:

rpm -V monodevelop gnome-sharp libgnome

libgnome does indeed get installed correctly when you install MonoDevelop; the issue is you have to log out and back in in order for the schema to have been applied :)

Ok, thanks for the test!

So it looks like that there is no problem with monodevelop. Given the dependencies and the default value for the gconf key it seems to be OK to assume that this key exists.

I'm closing this bug report.

However, I'm a little bit worried that the default values are not seen in gconf unless the user logs out and back in again. If you could spare a minute, probably a bug report against gconf would be good.
