Created attachment 533665 [details]
the output of `grep -i forcedeth /var/log/messages`

Description of problem:
Ethernet doesn't seem to work in fedora 16. I have 2 nvidia MCP55 NICs. I believe this is a regression.. but cannot find the old bugzilla link again.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): `uname -ar` reports: Linux josh-desktop 3.1.1-1.fc16.i686.PAE #1 SMP Fri Nov 11 22:04:40 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

How reproducible: Every time; doesn't work when I restart/log in/out/swap the working cable in/out

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log in
2. plug an ethernet cable in
3. see 'cable unplugged' message in the network icon

Actual results: Cannot connect to the internet with ethernet (though I can with wireless just fine)

Expected results: Ethernet should work or give me an error when the cable is plugged in but not working.

Additional info: I've attached the output of `grep -i forcedeth /var/log/messages`

When did it last work? I found something about crossover cables no longer working, do you happen to be using one of those?

Comment 2 Josh 2011-11-25 00:25:53 UTC
It worked on my Fedora 15 install. Then I installed Fedora 16 fresh from the DVD and that's when it didn't work. I'm fairly certain it was a normal ethernet cable.. but I can check when I get back home in a few days.
