Description Frantisek Hanzlik 2011-11-16 08:07:02 UTC
Description of problem:
fresh instal f16 i686 over NFS, five other NFS repos, with custom package selection. During installation RPM package wireshark (package 1164 of 2992), anaconda crashes with error
"Error Installing Package": A fatal error occured when installing the wireshark package. This could indicate errors when reading the installation media. Installation cannot continue.

And "Exit Installer" is only option.

Inspecting things, problem is caused by unsuccessful exit status from wireshark PREIN script, which is simple as:

getent group wireshark >/dev/null || groupadd -r wireshark

Group "wireshark" does not exist, and "groupadd" command on installation image not exist too.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
installation images from F16 release.

Additional info:
I suppose in Fedora repos are more packages with pre/post scripts which want add users and/or groups to system accounts, then this bug is really severe, as block f16 install. In addition, it is VERY bad that previous enervating package selection is useless, because IMO selected packages and other install options are stored nowhere (kickstart file is created at successful installation end), then installation must be entire repeated.
