Description Morgan Cox 2011-11-17 13:57:23 UTC
Description of problem:

Client :-

Archlinux - KDE4/Gnome3
virt-manager 0.9.0

Server:-

Ubuntu 11.10
qemu-kvm 0.14.1
libvirt 0.9.2-4ubuntu15.1

I have been getting crashes when using virt-manager to manipulate LVM partitions (i.e delete) them

This occurs all the time, in Kde4 the crash sometime takes out the entire desktop (this doesn't occur in gnome3) leaving me with a black screen...

On the server I can see apparmor messages - for example

type=1400 audit(1321440182.218:74): apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" parent=1211 profile="/usr/lib/libvirt/virt-aa-helper" name="/dev/dm-5" pid=14653 comm="virt-aa-helper" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r"

The virt-manger (GUI) crashes - however it does actually delete the volume (its more of an annoyance)

The actual KVM/libvirt server doesn't crash though (thankfully..)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

(see above)

How reproducible:

Happen very frequently - not all the time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Connect to server with virt-manager
2. Go to storage tab
3. remove LVM volume

Actual results:
virt-manager crashes - volume is however deleted

Expected results:
to delete with no crash

Had this in /var/log/everything.log after a crash

kernel: [ 5665.380793] python2[7192]: segfault at 8 ip 00007fecd11feea3 sp 00007fff1c1935b0 error 4 in libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.2400.8[7fecd1083000+422000]

Comment 2 Cole Robinson 2012-01-25 17:18:57 UTC
If GTK is segfaulting there are probably other issues going on that aren't virt-manager related. So closing this as CANTFIX.

But if you can get a full gdb backtrace I'll take a look
