Description Henrik Høegh 2011-11-17 16:07:17 UTC
Description of problem:
When i login using my fingerprint reader, the keyring isnt set, and the keyring window will start right after login. As do the Gnome Do ("Type to search" window). when the two of them is showned at the same time, the whole desktop freeses and nothing works except the top menu of Gnome.

If i login via typing my password instead, the keyring windows will not show, and everything works. This is a kind of work-around.

But as i see it, theres two errors. One is the "deadlock" between the two windows at login, and one is that the keyring isnt unlocked when using the fingerprint reader. (the last will solve the first)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-do-docklets : 0.8.5
gnome-keyring-daemon : 3.2.1

How reproducible:
Login via fingerprint reader. Have the Gnome Do load at login, and the gnome keyring windows as well. If they start at the same time, they will lock the whole desktop.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Make sure the Gnome Do and keyring window shows at login
2.Login via fingerprint reader (eg IBM T43)

Actual results:
The whole desktop is locked, and the two windows is in a kind of deadlock. It is not possible to close the two windows, nor to enter a keyring password.

Expected results:
The two windows should work like normal, and the desktop should be able to start other applications.

This bug has been filed upstream for a while at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/do/+bug/568104

It would be great if you could keep an eye on that bug in case any extra information is needed, as I don't have a working fingerprint reader to reproduce this.

Thanks for the report!

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2013-01-16 12:37:14 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '16'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2013-02-13 12:56:55 UTC
Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
