Description Kazuhiro Takenaka 2011-11-22 10:21:47 UTC
Description of problem:

On HP Proliant DL360G4, running grub-install makes
the system unbootable.

grub-install reports
"Installation finished. No error reported."

But before this message, grub-install complains
"expr: non-numeric argument"

After this, the machine won't boot by reboot.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

grub-0.97-70

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RHEL6.1 into a certain parition.
2. Install RHEL6.1 into another partion.
3. Boot from the partition of step 2.
4. mount the partition of step 1 to /mnt
5. run the following command
# grub-install --root-direcotry=/mnt /dev/cciss/c0d0
6. reboot the machine.

Actual results:

The boot process of the machine stalls.

Expected results:

The machine boots from the partition of step 1.
