NetworkManager debug log E220
It's the same on Nokia N8 On Fedora 14 the Huawei E220 works out of the Box but why not on Fedora 16? ==> my Nokia 5230 works fine but the connection is very slow :( If I create a new connection with the KDE Networkmanager the Huawei Modem appears sometimes and for one time (after a fresh installation) it works but after reeboot I'm not able to connect with this Modem again. "dmesg" says that the Modem appears as a CDROM drive and it won't switch to Modem Mode. Try to add the following line to /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/12d1:1003 DetachStorageOnly=1 (In reply to comment #6) > Try to add the following line to /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/12d1:1003 > > DetachStorageOnly=1 it doesn't work Have you tried this : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/721215 Changing APN to : tatadocomo3g Regards Yogendra. (In reply to comment #8) > Have you tried this : > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/721215 > Changing APN to : tatadocomo3g > > Regards > Yogendra. If you are using tatadocomo, else check with ISP for correct APN ? I am using Huawei E177 stick, TATADOCOMO, and after changing the APN it worked. Ref. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/721215 Regards Yogendra. no, that's not the problem, i'm using several APN for test... See attached logs, problem is in other direction. (In reply to comment #9) > (In reply to comment #8) > > Have you tried this : > > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/721215 > > Changing APN to : tatadocomo3g > > > > Regards > > Yogendra. > If you are using tatadocomo, else check with ISP for correct APN ? > > I am using Huawei E177 stick, TATADOCOMO, and after changing the APN it worked. > > Ref. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/721215 > > Regards > Yogendra. I found out that modem doesn't work because usb_modeswitch doesn't start automatically. If you run it manually: usb_modeswitch -c "/etc/usb_modeswitch.d/12d1:1446" modem starts working. Tested on Huawei E1550. Something wrong with usb_modeswitch calling from udev. Replaced rule string for my modem:
Before: ATTRS{idVendor}=="12d1", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1446", RUN+="usb_modeswitch '%b/%k'"
After: ATTRS{idVendor}=="12d1", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1446", RUN+="/usr/sbin/usb_modeswitch -c '/etc/usb_modeswitch.d/12d1:1446'"
Works now, but it is a temporary fix. Echoed %b/%k by the way. %b returns an empty string. May be that's the problem?
i tried it with my fedora 16 but it doesn't works. (In reply to comment #12) > Something wrong with usb_modeswitch calling from udev. Check them and edit correct line. usb_modeswitch-1.2.2-2.fc16 update fixes this problem. The problem was in /lib/udev/usb_modeswitch script. My modem works now without additional udev rules changes. Can anyone else confirm that the modeswitch update makes it work? Sry I haven't try it on Fedora 16 again but with Fedora 17 it works. Sry I haven't try it on Fedora 16 again but with Fedora 17 it works. This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
