Description Dag 2011-11-24 01:08:19 UTC
Description of problem:
When I wanted to "pause" a song in Fedora 15, I pressed the XF86AudioPlay key.
In Clementine on Fedora 16 : multimedia keys don't work anymore (Play, Pause, Next, Previous, etc.).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
clementine-0.7.1-2.fc16.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a normal user session in Gnome3 (Gnome-Shell)
2. Open Clementine
3. try to start playing via the XF86AudioPlay key

Actual results:
A dark OSD square appears displaying a circle with an oblic bar, like a "forbidden" road sign. And Clementine doesn't start playing.

Expected results:
Clementine should start playing a song.

Additional info:
When I open Rhytmbox all the Multimedia keys are working.

I tried to open Rhytmbox AND Clementine : Multimedia keys work for both players (a song is played/paused/stopped/next/forward on each player at the same time).
Then I closed Rhytmbox and Multimedia keys stopped working in Clementine, displaying the "forbidden" OSD sign.

I tried to change the "global shortcuts" configuration in Clementine (tools->preferences) :
- when I click on the button "Open" (global Gnome shortcuts), it says : "gnome-keybinding-properties" command can not be started,
- when I uncheck "use Gnome shortcuts" I should be able to choose a key for each command :
i.e. I choosed to associate XF86AudioPlay key to Clementine's "Play/Pause" action, but it doesn't work : the key presses are somehow captured by Gnome before they get to Clementine, so I connot set this key as a shortcut.

I tried to configure the shortcuts adding Ctrl : Ctrl+XF86AudioPlay works OK.

Next, previous, etc. keys also work OK when defined with Ctrl key in Clementine's global shortcuts key and "use Gnome shortcuts" is unchecked.

Bye for now
Dag

Ok,

I restarted Gnome Shell (Alt+F2 then "r") and now Global Gnome Shortcuts work again.

So it seems that Gnome Shell failed at some point.

I guess the problem is solved on Clementine's side and that it's a Gnome Shell problem.

Closing this bug.
Bye for now,
Dag
