Description Jack Zhou 2011-11-28 08:47:44 UTC
Description of problem:
I need to add some extra files into initrd.img so that implement customized OS deployment. My designed script unpack initrd.img from RHEL OS image via "gzip -dc" command, add some files, then pack it. It works very well in previous RHEL version. But for RHEL 6.2, the "gzip -dc" execution gets error. The initrd.img is not in gzip format.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
  anaconda for RHEL 6.2

How reproducible:
  always

Steps to Reproduce:
Use "gzip -dc isolinux/initrd.img > /tmp/ramdisk" to unpack the initrd.img

Actual results:
initrd.img can't be unpacked. It is not in gzip format.

Expected results:
Add some extra files into initrd.img and implement customized OS deployment.

Use "xz -dc". The compression was changed to xz.
