Description garrickyang 2011-11-29 03:21:33 UTC
Description of problem:
There is no integrated driver for Realtek multimedia card reader(Realtek device 5209) in RHEL 6.1 kernel. We are doing hardware certification with this card reader, and can't pass the cert with third-part drivers(rts_pstor). This case impacted our several machines'
certification(Thinkpad L520/L420/E320 etc.)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL 6.1 x86

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RHEL 6.1 on laptop.
2. Check the multimedia card reader if can work.

Actual results:
It can't recognize SD/MMC/SDHC/SDXC cards and there is no driver to used.

Expected results:
It can recognize SD/MMC/SDHC/SDXC cards.

Hi,

This is still in staging upstream. The driver needs to be cleaned up and
pushed in to an official drivers area upstream.

Pushing this request out to 6.4. I'll leave if the driver has been cleaned up
by then.

Cheers,
Don

This request was not resolved in time for the current release.
Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if still desired, for consideration in
the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 5 RHEL Program Management 2012-07-10 23:31:24 UTC
This request was erroneously removed from consideration in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4, which is currently under development. This request will be evaluated for inclusion in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4.

Comment 6 Don Zickus 2012-08-13 21:26:25 UTC
I don't see any movement upstream in the direction of cleaning up this driver. I do not anticipate this going into RHEL-6 any time soon.

Closing this out for now. If anything changes and upstream accepts the new version of this driver, then feel free to re-open.

Cheers,
Don
