Description Nathalia Mota 2011-12-01 02:30:18 UTC
Description of problem:
I just installed CinePaint on my computer, a SONY PC with Fedora Linux
version 14, GNOME desktop edition, installed on it, with all the latest
security updates for this version (an old version) of the Operating
System. I ran the program for the first time, and got a series of error
messages right up front, in the first run.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora version 14, (GNOME desktop)
CinePaint version 0.22-1

How reproducible:
Completely reproducible

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install CinePaint version 0.22-1 on a Fedora Linux 14, with a GNOME desktop
2. Update Fedora 14 until there are no longer any more updates for that version
3. Install all of the following software on the system one at a time, in the order mentioned below:
    a. AbiWord,
    b. F-Spot photo manager, and
    c. CinePaint, meeting all of the software dependencies listed in the installer (Add/Remove software component under the System --> Administration "start" menu)
4. Run CinePaint

Actual results:
- Fedora generated 2 bug report alerts
- CinePaint generated the following error messages:

1)Oyanos cannot find display ICC profile. Using sRGB instead.

2) Error: oyranos_alpha.c:14955 oyProfile_FromStd()
Could not open default ICC profile: "sRGB.icc"
You can get them from http://st.net/projects/openicc/
install in the OpenIccDirectory icc path[-1]

3) Cannot colormanage this display. Either image or display profile are
undefined. To avoid this message switch off automatic colormanagement in
File/Preferences/Color Management

4) gdisplay_set_colormanaged: cannot colormanage. no image profile
defined

5) cms_get_profile_from_file: cannot open profile:
coated_FOGRA39L_argl.icc

6) !!! ERROR: File 'coated_FOGRA39L_argl.icc' not found[-1]

7) gimage_set_cms_profile: profile is NULL, Colormanagement switched off
for all displays of this image

8) cms_get_profile_from_file: cannot open profile: sRGB.icc

9) !!! ERROR: File 'sRGB.icc' not found [-1]

Expected results:
To be able to open the CinePaint program without immediately receiving a bunch of error messages from the program and bug alerts from the operating system.

I tried going to http://st.net/projects/openicc/ to figure out what ICC
profile the error message was telling me to install, and where and how
to go about installing it. However, the URL was a dead-end, as the page
does not exist. What can I do to solve the problem (of the error
messages popping up, indicating bugs)? Is there an update or fix for me
to download?

Thank you;

Nathalia Mota

Sorry for the long delay.
Can you please reproduce using icc-profiles-openicc package from fedora.
(currently in updates-testing)
You might want to reproduce on newer fedora, but this will be the same version.

I plan to update cinepaint on f17 ASAP. Eventually, I will support a special repo for F-15 and later.

Thx for your report.
