Description of problem:

I have updated Fedora 16 from 14 through preupgrade. Gnome 3 work in fallback mode.

I see that 3D is not enable.

lspci -k | grep VGA
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M92 [Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 Series]

In Xorg.0.log I see errors (see in attached file):
[ 45.642] (EE) AIGLX error: Calling driver entry point failed
[ 45.702] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering

Installing of kmod-catalyst has no effect...

Unsupported videocard?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

In this time I have xorg-x11-drv-ati x86_64 6.14.3-3.20111125git534fb6e41.fc16 from updates-testing repo.

Comment 1 Dave Airlie 2011-12-01 11:00:19 UTC
you've turned off modesetting on the kernel command line, probably installing catalyst has screwed something up.

It should work fine out of the box, without any kmod-catalyst.
