All print filters have an element of security risk. However, this print filter isn't coming back, for the simple reason that it doesn't work reliably *anyway*: regardless of the security issues it just doesn't make sense. Any files that are referenced by the DVI file (such as images) won't be available to the print spooler. Running dvips at the client end is the way to get this to work. (Unfortunately in Red Hat Linux 8.0 you have to use 'dvips -o file.ps ...; lpr file.ps', due to another bug introduce in that release of Red Hat Linux.) |
