:Problem occurs when using PNY Attache 16GB, copying large files, regarding of what filesystem is on the target PNY, slows, almost freezes my HP EliteBook 8440p,.
:Forcibly removing the USB stick brings it all back to normal but causes this crash.

can you reproduce this with the 2.6.43.1 update ?
