Description David Woodhouse 2011-12-05 11:59:10 UTC
I have used the 'Connect to Server' menu option in "Files" application to open a network share and have added a 'bookmark' so that it appears in the file open/save dialog in other applications, since otherwise I could not navigate to it.

This works everywhere, it seems, except in Firefox. The 'Places' list doesn't contain the Windows share, when I'm running Firefox.

I've been told a way to work around this bug is to go to my home directory and open a magic directory called "dot g v f s" but that doesn't seem to exist — it's not shown in the list, and I can't type it either.

If I want to use Firefox to upload a file from the Windows share, how can I do so?

Why is the file dialog in Firefox so confusingly different to the file dialog in everything else?

Jan works on that. AFAIK GIO support is somehow involved here, the dot g v f s file should be provided by it.

This is covered by upstream bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=682838.
