Description Matthew Booth 2011-12-05 16:46:40 UTC
It is not currently possible for a perl program to determine if a particular optional argument to a guestfs API is supported in the current release. This information is available to other language bindings. A fix for this is currently available upstream.

While this enhancement will have no impact on the current release, it will allow future releases to test for the availability of optional arguments and degrade gracefully if they are not available. V2V would have used this feature for drive hints if it had been available.

The upstream patch is:

365885dab2ae6dcdf0b2c45d0adeb803ade03f63
perl: Add %guestfs_introspection hash with introspection information.

This is already in stable-1.14, so it'll go into RHEL 6.3
by default because of the rebase.
