Description of Problem:

Can't print a test page from printconf gui


Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

printconf-gui 0.4.24

How Reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start terminal
2. Log in a su and enter command printconf &
3. Test> <Print a test page type>

Actual Results:
"There was an error trying to print the test page."

Expected Results:
Should print a test page

Additional Information:
When starting printconf in term as su, the following error message is dumped in
the term window:
(printconf:1867): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from (NULL) pointer to
`GObject'

I am also on a cable modem. 	

I cannot print from other means either

I setup my HPLJ 1100 as per stated on the redhat website explaining installs for
local printers (my printer is locally connected via parallel)

What does 'alternatives --display print' say?  Also please attach
/etc/alchemist/namespace/printconf/local.adl.  Thanks.

After trying to print the test page, please do 'lpq' and look for a file called
/var/spool/lpd/HPJ/lpq.0.  Are there any useful error messages in there?

No file lpq.0 but instead this error message dumped into term
[root@dhcp-813-225 HPJ]# lpq
Get_local_host: 'localhost' IP address not available!

You need to be able to resolve 'localhost'.  The installer ought to have sorted
this out.  Changing component.

No, it should be 127.0.0.1, and doesn't need an external network connection. 
What's in /etc/hosts?

I had to o/w i'd get an error message on startup telling me to enter dhcp871-335
in /etc/hosts. It couldn't resolve a host.

You should change it back.  Use redhat-config-network to configure your DNS
servers (provided by the ISP).

what wsa the original entry? 
the only thing i changed was the ending of the /etc/hosts file. What was the
last entry on the line? Or the original one?
