Description of problem:
Happened to me multiple times now that I reserved a host via the web UI (max reservation time 7 days) and at the 7th day I forgot to extend the reservation so my host was gone along with all the debug data on it.

It would be nice to have a reminder email sent, let's say 24h, before the reservation expires. That way you get reminded to check if you still need the host or not.
Would have saved me a couple of times already.

For people who do (not) wish this email, having a preference setting in the webUI could be a good idea as well.

Additionally would be good idea to sent notification an hour before via wall command.

This will be resolved in this proposal which I am working on. Hopefully can get it implemented in beaker 0.17.

The usage reminder system implemented in Beaker 0.18 does indeed remind you about reservations which are going to end soon -- but it doesn't remind you any fixed amount of time beforehand. The reminders are only sent once per day at a fixed time. So for example, the reminder might be sent at 04:00 and the reservation might expire at 07:30 before you arrive at your desk. This has caught out a few people before.

So I will leave this RFE open, about sending a reminder a fixed amount of time before a reservation ends.

We will probably need it to be opt-in as well, or only enabled for reservations which were originally longer than X days. If I run a recipe with a 24-hour reservesys at the end I don't really need a reminder send immediately after the reserve notification is sent.

As I recall, the other wrinkle we came up with is that if your reservation expires on Sunday or early Monday morning, you really want to receive a notice the previous Friday, rather than on the Saturday. A possible way of tackling that might be:

1. Only enable this for 7+ day reservations
2. Send reminders at 72, 48 and 24 hours to expiry

I'd still appreciate it if the ideas in comments 6 and 7 could be implemented.
