Description Jay Greguske 2011-12-09 15:31:21 UTC
aka "partition images".

It would be handy for the EC2 use-case to be able to produce partition image natively rather than having to extract a partition from the disk image.

Comment 1 Marek Goldmann 2011-12-09 15:42:47 UTC
IIRC EC2 supports now both types of disk with new pvgrub.

Comment 2 Jay Greguske 2011-12-09 21:29:42 UTC
True, but nobody wants to use disk images there. If you resize the EBS volume, you can't simply `resize2fs` to adjust the filesystem. You have to mess with the partition table which is gross.

Comment 3 Jay Greguske 2012-04-17 14:19:24 UTC
Purging old bugs. This isn't getting fixed any time soon, and we'll move off appliance-tools anyway.
