Description Yaroslav 2011-12-10 21:49:14 UTC
Description of problem:

Acer Ultrabook S3 touchpad : can open, close or resize window, can not minimize ,
move or call menu. under Gnome and Xfce. kernel 3.1.4-1.fc16.x86_64.
with older kernel 3.1.0-7.fc16.x86_64 => touchpad works OK.
"regular" usb mouse works well under both kernel versions.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

 kernel 3.1.4-1.fc16.x86_64

How reproducible:
at least 5-6 times

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install F16-64b on Acer Ultrabook S3 ( in my case it was 3.1.0-7).Gnome, Xfce
2.upgrade kernel to 3.1.4-1
3.changing versions in bootloader menu observe the effect so many times as you need to understand what is the reason

Actual results:

kernel 3.1.4-1 give mistakes with touchpad, 3.1.0-7 -not
Expected results:
normally everybody expect that newer version should work better ...

Additional info:
Thank you very much that my lovely Fedora at least recognizes this device, good luck

Do you happen to have an Elantech touchpad in this machine? If so, there was a missing commit in the 3.1.4-1 kernel that could misidentify some versions. That has been included in the 3.1.5 kernel in updates-testing. Could you try that?
