closed the preferences window following chaning the webcam video resolution to 640x480 pixels. Crash was pretty much immediate.

Tried to record a video in cheese. As soon as I clicked record, it immediately crashed.

While on the subject of cheese not working (Got similar crashes on 2 machines with different webcams), the "effects" in cheese can't be enabled either.
