Sorry about that. I entered an erroneous version number. 3.2.0.2 was the one that worked. 3.2.1.1 breaks things. (In reply to comment #1) > 3.2.1.1 breaks things. OTOH 3.2.1-1.fc16 fixes 'gnome-shell-extension-alternative-status-menu' which in version 3.2.0-2.fc16 was preventing a login if this extenstion was active. Unfortunately it does not seem possible to pick-and-choose so decide on your poison. Sigh! Welcome to fedora! ;) Not a problem. If you happen to have a copy of 3.2.0.2 handy ... I'll just re-install that one and go on my merry way. :D (In reply to comment #3) > If you happen to have a copy of 3.2.0.2 handy ... I'll just > re-install that one and go on my merry way. You miss the point. Reinstalling is not a problem but you cannot do that without a severe breakage elsewhere. Ok. Why? What changed? And how do we un-break it? That being asked, the alternative-status-menu isn't high enough on my list of priorities to allow the breakage of user themeing to work around it. So, in short, if you happen to have a link to the 3.2.0-2 version, I'm all ears. (In reply to comment #5) > Ok. Why? What changed? And how do we un-break it? No idea. I only know that attempts to chage shell theme come to naught. Maybe bug 766971 has something to do with it? Only attempts to replace files in /usr/share/gnome-shell/theme/ with corresponding ones from other 'gnome-shell-theme-...' packages did not seem to have any effect either. > That beging asked, the alternative-status-menu isn't high enough on my list of > priorities And I'd rather survive for a while with a default theme only in a hope that eventually the problem of this report will be fixed. > And I'd rather survive for a while with a default theme only in a hope that
eventually the problem of this report will be fixed.
And that means exactly, what?
(In reply to comment #7) > > And that means exactly, what? A subject of this report says "... breaks ability to select user shell theme" so I am not sure what you are asking. Hmmm. Yeah, probably better to simplify. That was clear as mud. To whom or where do we look for a fix, what, if anything, can I do to help, and for testing purposes, do you happen to have the afore mentioned to the 3.2.0-2 version? I haven't located it yet. (In reply to comment #9)> > To whom or where do we look for a fix, what, if anything, can I do to help, and > for testing purposes, do you happen to have the afore mentioned to the 3.2.0-2 > version? I haven't located it yet. I picked up the old build from Koji at http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=273395 . Any updates on this? There is a fix. run updates, then follow the instructions here: http://ask.fedoraproject.org/question/735/solved-how-do-i-fix-the-gnome-tweak-tool-shell The fix from comment #12 works for me. (In reply to comment #13) > The fix from comment #12 works for me. OTOH the current gnome-tweak-tool-3.2.2-1.fc16 update breaks that again. Changing component to this one. Same problem as last time ... same solution works again. Kinda deja-vu ... again ... This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component. Issue fixed by latest release of gnome-tweak-tool in Fedora 16. |
