Description Martin Minar 2011-12-13 10:15:57 UTC
Description of problem:
In updates repo (and in koji) is spring package spring-84.0. This cause problems with newer packages spring-1.2.9 from for exapmle jpackage repos

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
spring-84.0-1

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install spring-1.2.9 from jpackage repo
2. Have fedora and updates repo enabled
3. yum update

Actual results:
--> Processing Dependency: spring = 1.2.9-3.jpp5 for package: spring-all-1.2.9-3.jpp5.noarch
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Package: spring-all-1.2.9-3.jpp5.noarch (@jpackage-generic)
           Requires: spring = 1.2.9-3.jpp5
           Removing: spring-1.2.9-3.jpp5.noarch (@jpackage-generic)
               spring = 1.2.9-3.jpp5
           Updated By: spring-84.0-1.fc16.x86_64 (updates)
               spring = 84.0-1.fc16
           Available: spring-0.82.7.1-6.fc16.x86_64 (fedora)
               spring = 0.82.7.1-6.fc16
 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
 You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

Expected results:
spring-1.2.9 is newer and should not be updated.

Additional info:
Problem is clearly wrong numbering - package should be spring-0.84 and not spring-84

Comment 1 Tomas Lestach 2011-12-13 10:38:17 UTC
We would need to remove spring-84.0-1 (and any other versions > 1) from the fedora/updates repos, because they break set of repositories used for Spacewalk on Fedora.

Comment 2 Gilboa Davara 2011-12-13 14:21:31 UTC
Spring is a RTS game that's included
The current spring version 84.
I have no idea what is the jpackage repo and/or what's included in the spring/spring-all packages, but spring was included in Fedora since the end of 2008, hence jpackage's spring/spring-all obviously conflicts with it. (Let alone the fact the at jpackage is not a part of Fedora proper)

Pending additional information closing as NOTABUG.

In that case the game package name collides with the java application framework - http://www.springsource.org/
