I am running into the same problem, but I am running Gnome-Shell (not fallback mode). I got the following messages in /var/log/messages: Dec 19 20:31:59 delos dbus[1104]: [system] Activating service name='org.freedesktop.PackageKit' (using servicehelper) Dec 19 20:31:59 delos dbus-daemon[1104]: dbus[1104]: [system] Activating service name='org.freedesktop.PackageKit' (using servicehelper) Dec 19 20:31:59 delos dbus[1104]: [system] Successfully activated service 'org.freedesktop.PackageKit' Dec 19 20:31:59 delos dbus-daemon[1104]: dbus[1104]: [system] Successfully activated service 'org.freedesktop.PackageKit' Dec 19 20:32:56 delos kernel: [ 6147.674041] composite sync not supported Dec 19 20:32:57 delos kernel: [ 6149.291381] composite sync not supported Dec 19 20:32:58 delos gnome-session[2160]: DEBUG(+): Searching for 4194308 in 4194307,4194308 Dec 19 20:32:58 delos gnome-session[2160]: DEBUG(+): Watch 1 fired, idle time = 1 Dec 19 20:32:58 delos gnome-session[2160]: DEBUG(+): GsmPresence: setting idle: 0 Dec 19 20:32:58 delos gnome-session[2160]: DEBUG(+): Updating ConsoleKit idle status: 0 Dec 19 20:33:03 delos kernel: [ 6155.087115] composite sync not supported Dec 19 20:33:04 delos dbus[1104]: [system] Activating service name='net.reactivated.Fprint' (using servicehelper) Dec 19 20:33:04 delos dbus-daemon[1104]: dbus[1104]: [system] Activating service name='net.reactivated.Fprint' (using servicehelper) Dec 19 20:33:04 delos dbus-daemon[1104]: Launching FprintObject Dec 19 20:33:04 delos dbus[1104]: [system] Successfully activated service 'net.reactivated.Fprint' Dec 19 20:33:04 delos dbus-daemon[1104]: dbus[1104]: [system] Successfully activated service 'net.reactivated.Fprint' Dec 19 20:33:04 delos dbus-daemon[1104]: ** Message: D-Bus service launched with name: net.reactivated.Fprint Dec 19 20:33:04 delos dbus-daemon[1104]: ** Message: entering main loop Dec 19 20:33:13 delos gnome-session[2160]: DEBUG(+): GsmDBusClient: obj_path=/org/gnome/SessionManager interface=org.gnome.SessionManager method=IsInhibited Dec 19 20:33:13 delos gnome-session[2160]: DEBUG(+): GsmDBusClient: obj_path=/org/gnome/SessionManager interface=org.gnome.SessionManager method=IsInhibited ~ Same problem here with gnome-shell. I log into the two accounts that we use most often, and then resort to using Ctlr-Alt-F1 or Ctrl-Alt-F7 to switch between them. I found the problem for me was that when my son logged out of my machine, the session wouldn't completely exit. I could find a virtual console that had his background, but no menubar, and was generally unresponsive. Later, when he would go to login again, when the machine hadn't rebooted since his last login, he couldn't login (after all, he was already 1/2 logged in). I suspect this problem relates to how my son would log out. He would not stop Firefox before logging out, and something obviously would go wrong. In any case, this still seems like a bug. By the way, I asked my son to exit firefox before logging out. That seems to be a working workaround. I'm not logging out, just switching users. And I'm not going to close FF every time I switch users :) This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
