Description David Summers 2011-12-13 18:00:57 UTC
Description of problem:
EPEL yum update indicates there is a new xerces-c library, but won't update to
it because gdal only works with the previous version of the xerces-library.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gdal-1.4.2-4.el5
gdal-devel-1.4.2-4.el5
xerces-c-2.7.0-8.el5

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. yum update

Actual results:
[root@asumn ~]# yum update
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
 * base: mirror.fdcservers.net
 * epel: kdeforge.unl.edu
 * extras: mirrors.cmich.edu
 * updates: mirror.fdcservers.net

Error: Missing Dependency: libxerces-c.so.27 is needed by package gdal-1.4.2-4.el5.i386 (installed)
 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
 You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
                        package-cleanup --dupes
                        rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

Expected results:
It should update gdal and xerces together to be in step with each other.
