Description MERCIER Jonathan 2011-12-14 09:59:30 UTC
Dear it seem SDL ha not updated since a long time: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=590
Here we can see since fedora 13

I think it will be a great thing to update to SDL 1.3
this release is in beta and this match with fedora moto.

In more this release allow dev to use openGL 3+ with SDL

regards

SDL has been updated regularly. The reason why no new version number is because upstream has not released any new version (http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php).

SDL 1.3 (http://www.galaxygameworks.com/products.html) is not an update. This is completely incompatible new project not suitable for upgrade nor update.

SDL 1.3 will be packaged as new independent package once upstream start releasing _versioned_ archives. I think I could grab and package unofficial snapshot (http://www.libsdl.org/tmp/) but without any guaranties for stability as these are snapshots of development code.

Comment 2 MERCIER Jonathan 2011-12-14 13:39:07 UTC
oh ok,
Yes i separate package for SDL 1.3 for do nothave have th breaking change will be great. Both allow stability with 1.2 and bleeding edge with 1.3

Thanks a lot

Comment 3 Petr Pisar 2012-05-21 07:13:39 UTC
The SDL-1.3 will be licensed under zlib license only (http://lists.libsdl.org/pipermail/sdl-libsdl.org/2011-April/080415.html).

Comment 4 Petr Pisar 2012-07-13 08:56:47 UTC
There is bug currently: If both GLX and EGL are enabled, then EGL can be used only at run-time.

Comment 5 Petr Pisar 2012-09-05 08:40:18 UTC
Upstream has never released (supported) SDL 1.3 and moved to SDL 2. There is an effort to package it for Fedora (bug #848144).
