I have the same problem, with the same scanner (Microtek ScanMaker 3600). For me it only worked once, and in all subsequent scans it gets part way through and pops up a dialog box Error: "Failed to start scanner: Error during device I/O" Created attachment 82507 [details]
output of SANE_DEBUG_SM3600=128 xsane
Do you get the same problem with sane-backends-1.0.9-1 (in rawhide)? I tried upgrading to sane-backends-1.0.9-1 (in rawhide) as recommended. The problem seems better, but it does not go away. Specifically, I can now do single scans (at least in lineart or grayscale, havne't checked color). But the I cannot do two scans in a row without restarting xsane. I have a ScanMaker 3700 that does the same thing. I got it to work with Red Hat Linux 7.2, using *sane* from 7.3, but when I installed 8.0, I couldn't get it to work properly. I tried downgrading to the *sane* from 7.3, but it gives the same errors. Is this problem present on a recent system (FC4 or Rawhide)? Red Hat Linux is no longer supported by Red Hat, Inc. If you are still running Red Hat Linux, you are strongly advised to upgrade to a current Fedora Core release or Red Hat Enterprise Linux or comparable. Some information on which option may be right for you is available at http://www.redhat.com/rhel/migrate/redhatlinux/. Closing as CANTFIX. |
