Description Brandon 2011-12-14 22:15:17 UTC
Description of problem:
Glest is a dead project

The development on Glest has ceased some 3 years ago, and MegaGlest, which is a fork of Glest, continues to be developed and has fixed some bugs in Glest and added many new features.

Personally, I really like this game, many distro have started to replace glest with it. I think adding it to fedora would make the distribution more appealing.

I agree that megaglest would be a nice addition to Fedora. And I agree that once megaglest is in Fedora, there isn't much reason to keep glest and that dropping it going forward (but not from released versions of Fedora) makes sense.
However this isn't really a bug for glest. This needs to be added as a new package and go through a review.
Since you mentioned that one of the upstream maintainers might be interested in packaging it (in an outside email message), I think waiting to see if he follows through on that is the best short term action.

megaglest has been packaged for Fedora. glest has been dropped from recent versions of Fedora.
