Created attachment 547483 [details]
f16-compatible spec file

Please consider updating pam_abl to upstream's most recent (almost
two year old) release 0.4.1. The attached spec file adjusts to
upstream's switch to autoconf, but still needs some minor patches
for paths, samples, etc.

Comment 1 Fedora End Of Life 2013-01-16 10:09:33 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '16'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

As near as I can tell, the current 0.2.3 package doesn't work on Fedora 19 Beta at all.

Upstream has released 0.5.0, which is nearly completely rewritten, and now uses cmake rather than autoconf.

I've got an RPM of 0.5.0 nearly ready to go. If the current package maintainer would like to add me as a comaintainer, I'd be happy to push an update. I'll request ACLs.

Comment 3 Eric Smith 2013-06-04 22:52:13 UTC
Alexander Dalloz, would you please post a response to this bug? Thanks!

Comment 4 Tomas Mraz 2013-06-05 06:47:05 UTC
Eric, I'd suggest you to follow the nonresponsive maintainer process to take over the package.

Comment 5 Alexander Dalloz 2013-06-05 06:56:26 UTC
Hello Eric,

you are welcome as a comaintainer for pam_abl. Thanks for caring!

I have approved your ACL requests in the pkgdb.

Unfortunately I have very little time since a while and thus couldn't
spend the necessary attention.

Kind regards

Alexander

Comment 6 Eric Smith 2013-06-05 16:56:22 UTC
Thanks! I should have an RPM 0.5.0 to submit for update testing within a week or so.

An RPM of version 0.5.0 has been pushed to rawhide, and updates pushed to testing for F19 and EPEL6.

Since 0.5.0 is a substantial rewrite, it is possible that the configuration file (/etc/security/pam_abl.conf) may need to be modified, and the database (files in /var/lib/abl) deleted to force a new database to be created. I am pushing this to F19 despite that, because as far as I can tell, the previous version (0.2.3) was not actually working in F19.

Package pam_abl-0.5.0-2.fc19:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 19 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing pam_abl-0.5.0-2.fc19'
as soon as you are able to.
Please go to the following url:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2013-10205/pam_abl-0.5.0-2.fc19
then log in and leave karma (feedback).
