Description Lars Kellogg-Stedman 2011-12-19 18:36:33 UTC
The Installation Guide (http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/16/html/Installation_Guide/ch-Boot-x86.html) provides the following information regarding serial-port based installs:

If you need to perform the installation in serial mode, type the following command:
  linux console=<device>

This is erroneous. Without the "serial" option, Anaconda will attempt to display the text-mode interface on a virtual tty rather than on the serial port (even through the system console is using the serial port).

Thanks for reporting this, Lars. Fortunately, I'm told that this has been fixed for F17 and the existing console option will work.
