Description KitchM 2011-12-20 01:18:44 UTC
Description of problem:
Using the current version of the downloaded ISO image file for AMD 64 bit, the installation CD created does not provide the rescue mode as detailed at http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/16/html/Installation_Guide/sn-mode-rescue.html.

As mine will not boot because of a grub problem, this is imperitive.

Comment 1 Chris Lumens 2011-12-21 17:43:42 UTC
Rescue mode seems to be working fine for me.

Comment 2 KitchM 2011-12-21 18:12:09 UTC
How did you find it? It sure isn't on any menu, and docs don't explain it either.

Comment 3 Brian Lane 2011-12-22 00:46:36 UTC
It is under the Troubleshooting menu.

Comment 4 KitchM 2011-12-22 01:21:28 UTC
Troubleshooting

Start Fedora 16 in basic graphics mode.
Test this media and start Fedora 16
Run a memory test.

Boot from local drive

Return to main menu.

Press Tab for full configuration options on menu items.

The menu above is the one I have. Obviously, you have something other than the latest ISO I downloaded. Hence the missing part.

Comment 5 KitchM 2011-12-22 18:40:06 UTC
Is there anyone familiar with this missing component who can help with this bug?

Comment 6 Brian Lane 2011-12-23 00:08:59 UTC
Ah, you are likely using the livecd. You need to use the DVD or netboot iso for rescue mode.

Comment 7 KitchM 2011-12-23 01:05:50 UTC
@Brian C. Lane,
Well, finally, someone who knows. Thanks for the clarification. You are the only one who understood. Try going to all of the Fedora documentation and find what you just related to me. It doesn't exist. Even if you find it, I sure wish that was prominently displayed.

I will download the other, and try again.

Thank you much.
