Description Itamar Reis Peixoto 2011-12-21 00:12:25 UTC
Description of problem:

Can we have papyon 0.5.6 ?

Comment 1 Brian Pepple 2011-12-21 01:10:58 UTC
Not sure it's worth the effort since tp-butterfly/papyon aren't really maintained/being fazed out.

Read this for future plans of MSN support in Empathy (which hit rawhide yesterday):

http://blogs.gnome.org/xclaesse/2011/12/19/updates-on-xmpp-support-in-msn/

Comment 2 Itamar Reis Peixoto 2011-12-21 01:51:20 UTC
can you update it ?

xmpp is not working well yet.

Comment 3 Andrea Stagi 2011-12-21 14:37:39 UTC
Yes, please... I'm an author of Emesene and Papyon and since we can't import our papyon version into the code according with Fedora project's policies, we need to have papyon update at the 0.5.6 version to make our client working.. We haven't enough resources at the moment to develop a full support to xmpp..

Thank you,

=.4.S.=

Comment 4 Itamar Reis Peixoto 2011-12-29 22:57:40 UTC
if you dont want to upgrade it, can I do it myself ?

Comment 5 Andrea Stagi 2011-12-30 10:59:26 UTC
Brian, this is not a collaborative spirit, you shouldn't refuse to update an important package like Papyon, there are a lot of important bugfixes ( look here for changes http://cgit.freedesktop.org/papyon/ ) and if someone would create a new msn client based on Papyon can't use new features... Please, let Itamar update Papyon..

Comment 6 Brian Pepple 2011-12-30 15:50:02 UTC
@Itamar: This has been already been built and pushed to rawhide.

@Andrea: Please don't lecture me on the collaborative spirit if you haven't spent the time to actually look at what patches we are carrying and what's been already built. Thanks.

Sorry, I can't stand reading something like "Not sure it's worth the effort", seemed to be something like "I won't update papyon"..
