problem report created by “Logger”

The GNOME 3 desktop gave me the opportunity to create a problem report for this issue. I expected the problem reporting software to send a message to the Fedora bugtracker. But it only gave me a file with a report. This file not even contains additional files I have selected for inclusion in the report.

Now I don’t want to enter all the data a second time. Thus, I just attach the problem report file. I will see if Bugzilla gives me some chance of adding the other files manually. Unfortunately, I can only attach max. 1 file for now.

In my opinion, a problem reporting tool that is automatically suggested to run should be integrated with the distribution’s bugtracker.

Small correction: On the first try, Vim only crashed after pressing G for going to the end of the file. On all further occasions, Vim already crashed when opening the file. Deleting the .viminfo file resulted in the behavior of the first try.

Some further experiments showed that the problem also exists when running the GUI version of Vim.

They also showed that the problem might have something to do with UTF-8. When setting LC_CTYPE or LANG to C, Vim does not seem to crash.

When quitting Vim while being in the last line, then switching back to an UTF-8 locale and restarting Vim, it sometimes happens that Vim does not crash immediately. Instead, Vim only shows the last line of the text at the top of the screen. I would expect it to show the last n lines of the text with n being the height of the screen, so that the last line of the text is at the bottom.

I’m not experiencing this bug in the current Fedora 16 anymore, so I’m closing this bug report.
