*** Bug 772340 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 785859 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** This still occurs in 3.3.0-0.rc1.git3.1.fc17.x86_64 Wireless tried to connect multiple times, failing Package: kernel OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) A while after the wireless connection stopped working, I flipped the machine's wireless switch off and back on. NetworkManager was in the process of connecting to the access point. Package: kernel OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) This happened when I toggled the wifi switch after losing my connection. Package: kernel OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) hmm, what happen if you toggle the switch while still connected? Wey (In reply to comment #7) > hmm, what happen if you toggle the switch while still connected? > > Wey It depends on what you mean by "still connected". With 3.2.6-3.fc16.x86_64, the wireless randomly stops working, and has for several kernels now. (The fix for Bug 785239 only lessened the frequency of the problem for me, it did not eliminate it.) Sometimes when NetworkManager shows that I am connected, and iwconfig shows the AP etc., I cannot ping anything beyond my own IP address. If I toggle the wireless switch, then the wireless connection comes back, for a seemingly random amount of time, ranging anywhere from 5 minutes to many hours. I tried toggling the kill switch while I am actually connected, and I didn't get the kernel oops. The kernel oops I reported was while NetworkManager showed I was connected, despite that I couldn't reach the network. In case it makes a difference, this is what lspci shows I have: 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (rev 3e) Turning off the physical switch to disable wireless (wif / bluetooth). Package: kernel OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) attempted to manually connect to wireless network using NetworkManager through MATE desktop Package: kernel OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) [mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update. [mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update. [mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update. This just happened to me on kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 This happened after fiddling with the network manager and the network-kill switch on my laptop in an attempt to get wireless back up after it failed while working in a part of my house with weaker signal. Package: kernel OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) (In reply to comment #15) > This happened after fiddling with the network manager and the network-kill > switch on my laptop in an attempt to get wireless back up after it failed while > working in a part of my house with weaker signal. > > Package: kernel > OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) My story seems about the same. Wifi connectivity drops, NetworkManager prompts me for the key over and over again and never connects. When I hit the physical kill switch, no behavior changes. When I 1) get disconnected 2) Hit the kill switch 3) Restart the NetworkManager service I get this abrt. I posted iwlwifi and iwlegacy patches which should fix that warning: http://marc.info/?l=linux-wireless&m=133165156301731&w=2 http://marc.info/?l=linux-wireless&m=133165149501705&w=2 Note that patches does not fix problems happened with wifi connections that happen before the warning triggers. Josh, please apply above patches as fix for this bug report. (In reply to comment #18) > Josh, please apply above patches as fix for this bug report. Will do. Stanislaw, the upstream patches didn't apply cleanly to a 3.3 kernel. Could you look the following two backports over to see if they look correct? Mostly the iwlegacy one. iwlegacy backport to 3.3

iwlwifi backport to 3.3
Patches are correct, thanks Josh. (In reply to comment #23) > Patches are correct, thanks Josh. Great, thanks.
