Yeah, Samba doesn't work either. My Windoze system can see my Arch system, but it can't see the Fedora system. Please let me know what other info you might need. Thanks. <Bump> This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Same sort of problems with my new Fedora 17 system. Can see Domex card but not the scanner, even after reboot with scanner on. One of the major problems with Fedora is its unablility to identify the hardware in the computer, and a lack of a GUI interface to check out these things, activate them or diagnose the problems. Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. (In reply to comment #21) > Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. This has nothing to do with Fedora 16. Someone needs to adjust the addition of these messages to only appropriate bugs. Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Created attachment 550290 [details] KInfoCenter Summary Page Description of problem: Various hardware components are not recognized by the system. In my case, I find that the SCSI card, the sound components, the parallel printer and the DVD drive is not working. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Simply booting up and trying to get items working with the provided software does not work. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Fedora 16 from Live CD. 2. Try out hardware components thru software interfaces. 3. Actual results: Components not working. Expected results: Expected automatic detection and activation of all hardware items. Additional info: Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+, 2 x built-in 1GB NIC, Plexwriter CD Drive, built-in Realtek ALC 850 8-channel sound, no built-in video, XFX HD-557X-ZHL2 Radeon HD 5570 1GB DDR3 PCI-Express 2.1 (x16) Video Card in the second x16 slot, Domex DMX3191D PCI SCSI Card, 4 x 1GB DDR400 DIMM, parallel port, Deskjet 820cxi. All items active in BIOS as applicable. This is not necessarily an identification issue, although indications are that is so in some cases. But in others, it is a problem with usability or items being made available for use. The printer was found by the configuration software thru the bi-directional port and cable. After that, no software can reach the port. The Domex card has never been found, and so the scanner cannot be found. The sound system does not work, even after un-muting all recognized systems (cards). The monitor is capable of 1280x1024 @ 60 Hz non-interlaced, but the system does not see it nor recognize the max resolution. The Plexwriter is not seen at all. It does not matter if the DE is Gnome, KDE or Xfce. Xfce will not give option to shutdown, only log back in, and Gnome is exactly what Linus said. Please help. Thank you.
