Try to increase the 'Speaker' volume using 'alsamixer -c 1' in terminal. Jaroslav, thanks for the info. That worked. I can use the alsamixer to control the volume. Only when I have the alsamixer to the max settings, then I can control the "Sound Preferences" in the RHEL desktop. Why would the alsamixer have to be the "Master" control? If you have the "Sound Preferences" on the RHEL desktop, it is possible this will never work based on the alsamixer settings. This request was not resolved in time for the current release. Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to propose this request, if still desired, for consideration in the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This was tested with RHEL-7.3-20160817.1 & RHEL-6.8-updates-20160817.1 and this Headset is working. After evaluating this issue, there are no plans to address it further or fix it in an upcoming release. Therefore, it is being closed. If plans change such that this issue will be fixed in an upcoming release, then the bug can be reopened. |
Description of problem: The Logitech USB Headset/Mic works in both audio streams in RHEL 6.2 GA. The volume on the device is another matter. I can barely hear audio in no matter what I do to the hardware or software. In fact, in the "Sound Preferences" in RHEL, I can toggle between the internal and external sound outputs and the internal sounds normal and the external has very little sound at all.
