I use Empathy to connect to Jabber server.  Every time I start up Empathy after rebooting, it fails to connect due to an authentication problem.  If I input my password, it connects successfully.

Based on the length of the censored password that shows up on startup, it looks like it is remembering an old password.  But I can't get it to forget the old
password no matter what combination of clicking and unclicking "Remember
password" and re-entering the new password I have been able to think of.

As a workaround, I deleted all the files from:

 ~/.gnome2/keyrings/
 ~/config/Empathy/

I logged out, logged in, and I got a dialog box asking for my Empathy password.  I put it in, and checked "Remember password".  After this, I can quit Empathy, log out, log back in, and successfully start Empathy without needing to put in my password.

i'm having this same issue, since i've changed my password Empathy can't log into any of my accounts on startup. i have to specifically clear the password field and type in my new password every time on startup.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 
'version' of '16'.

plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' 
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life.

Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is 
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further 
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of 
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.
