Description Jay Fenlason 2012-01-10 19:25:31 UTC
Description of problem:
On system boot, systemd runs the rdma and opensm to bring up their respective subsystems. Unfortunately, it runs the systemd script first. Since systemd needs rdma to be up in order to do anything, it fails.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
opensm-3.3.12-1.fc17.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.configure a machine with rdma and opensm
2.boot it
3.confirm that opensmd is not running, and must be started by hand.

Actual results:
No opensmd running

Expected results:
opensmd running

Additional info:
My configuration has two IB subnets, and opensmd is configured to run on both of them.

Same problem here on Fedora 16 with opensm-3.3.12-1.fc16.x86_64, the /etc/init.d/opensm script contains this directive:

# Required-Start: $openib

Whilst /etc/init.d/rdma has:

# Provides: rdma

Changing the /etc/init.d/opensm script to "Required-Start: $rdma" doesn't seem to help though.

Comment 2 Doug Ledford 2012-02-29 04:20:10 UTC
You have to fix both the rdma script and the opensm script (which I did). Fixing one doesn't solve the other one.
