book updated Assigning to QE for review The new screenshots are even uglier than the previous ones. Could you include higher quality screenshots? What pdf viewer are you using, what version and on what operating system? Please supply a screenshot of images in question at 100% image size in Adobe Reader 8.1.3, GNU/Linux Attachment: Added: snapshot1.png It looks the same in xpdf 3.02. And people don't read pdfs using 100 % zoom settings. They often use "fit width", which is even worse. PDF supports FlateDecode algorithm for storing images, so top-quality screenshots of text should not increase file size dramatically. thanks for screenshot, gives me another reference for comparison. I'm logging a bug regards image quality for our pdf generation toolchain. Darrin - is this book done? I closed this because I didn't think I would be able to resolve the image problems this release. Turned out that I could. I've updated the images in this book. I think they are as good as they are going to get. - The images look much better now. Thanks. Besides that: - 1.1 Overview: stand-alone ESB server -> standalone ESB server What are the percentage signs supposed to mean? % cd tools/console/management-esb% - Fig. 2.3 MessageCounter: Could you scale it down? FIXED: stand-alone -> standalone FIXED: the % are shell prompts, missed a linefeed in copy-paste, changed them to $ & fixed position FIXED: hmmm, scaling it down made it look worse when viewed at greater than 100%, I made it wider so at 100% it scales down automatically & when viewer at greater it is closer to actual 100%. Does that make any sense? ;-) Also cleaned up the language in the overview a little 1.1 Overview: You're right that the whole paragraph needed to be rewritten, however this sentence looks awkward to me: "The monitoring console is installed by default, but is simple to install manually if needed." Maybe you should mention that it's installed in "all" configuration by default, but can be also simply installed into other configurations if needed. By the way this deployment doesn't work now, I have created issue for it (SOA-1113). updated overview & alternative database usage 1.1.2.
