Description Larry O'Leary 2009-01-14 15:20:55 UTC
project_key: SOA

We need to bundle a database along with the schemas that are to be used with the EDS Tutorial. The bundle should be a self-contained database installation along with the MMFinancials schema pre-loaded into it.

The idea is that a user can simply run a script or installer that will place all the necessary database components along with a predetermined configuration on the user's target machine so that they can be up and running with the tutorials much faster without the need to involve a DBA.

Changing fix version to unknown. We need to have the getting started material in the project before it makes sense to target these issues.

Candidate for SOA 5.1.0

I would like to rename this jira as to its reference to Getting Started kit. The new GSG (getting started guide) will not look anything like the old MetaMatrix GS kit. The new GSG will not include the tutorial work from MMx, which used MMFinancials, because the tutorial is a training guide, not the simple straightforward usecases that have been suggested that the GSG include. I'm not sure where the tutorial material is going, but I would like to change the Getting Started kit reference in the title to "Training Guide" for now. This is so there's no confusion as the inclusion of the training material in the GSG.

Even though a database will not be provided, as was done in MetaMatrix, ddl scripts will be. Also, the ddl scripts need to provide the insert (DML) scripts to load the test data.

Ken is working on getting the MMx Tutorial converted to using EDS. This is where the MMFinancials database schema is used.
